In a decisive move to promote equity and affordability in the housing sector, the Federal Government has approved a uniform pricing structure for homes under the Renewed Hope Housing Programme. The initiative, spearheaded by the Federal Ministry of Housing and Urban Development (FMHUD), aims to eliminate regional price disparities and ensure consistent access to affordable housing across all states.
🏠 Fixed Prices for Federal Housing Units
Under the newly ratified framework:
- One-bedroom units will be sold at ₦8.5 million
- Two-bedroom units at ₦11.5 million
- Three-bedroom units at ₦12.5 million
The standardized pricing is designed to foster transparency, enhance investor confidence, and simplify the homeownership process for buyers nationwide.
🌍 Inclusive Access for Targeted Demographics
The Renewed Hope Housing Programme, launched under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration, is a cornerstone of the government’s broader housing reform agenda. It targets low- and middle-income earners, civil servants, private sector employees, and Nigerians in the diaspora.
To accommodate diverse financial capacities, the programme offers multiple financing options:
- Outright purchase
- Mortgage arrangements
- Rent-to-own schemes
- Flexible instalment plans
🛠️ Bridging Nigeria’s Housing Deficit
With Nigeria’s housing deficit estimated at over 28 million units—according to the Federal Mortgage Bank of Nigeria (FMBN)—the Renewed Hope initiative seeks to deliver 100,000 housing units annually in its first phase. These units will be strategically located in urban and semi-urban areas across the country’s six geopolitical zones.
The programme also aims to stimulate the housing value chain, from construction and building materials to job creation and mortgage expansion, reinforcing its role in national economic development.
